Ecumenical Younger Youth Ministry
Last year we entered into a new ministry with six other churches in our area. The ministry
provided a youth group for some of our youth, who were not yet a part of the High School Youth
Groups in their congregations. The ministry was a huge success. We gathered six times during
the year around for various games, fellowship, food and a Christian message. Some events had
over thirty youth involved!
In fact, things went so well, that we decided to expand the ministry this year. Beginning this fall we will have two Younger Youth groups. One for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders and another for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The events will vary, sometimes there will be more of a mission focus, sometimes we will learn about biblical characters or stories. Always there will be lots of fun.
The 2006-07 meeting dates for both of these groups have been tentatively set. All events, unless otherwise indicated, are from 6:00-8:00 p.m. With food provided. Mark your calendars now!
This year, because of the expanded schedule, we are asking parents to come to at least one of the gatherings during the year to help out as chaperones. You don’t have to be a parent, however. As you can see each church hosts eacgrade level once a year. (Works out pretty nice.) Each church is responsible for planning the event when they host and helping to plan one other event during the year. If you are interested in helping to plan an event, chaperone, or just what to learn more, please contact Pastor Jeff.
SPLAT ( Samuel People Learning And Teaching )
SPLAT is a vehicle for ministry and fellowship for youth in grades 7 through 12. SPLAT is a dynamic ministry participating in mission projects, worship planning, old-fashioned fun and the famous SPLAT-A-THON (a full week of activities in early August). Since SPLAT includes many different ages, we often include activities specifically just for the older youth or just the younger youth. Announcements for events are regularly publicized in The Call or the bulletin. You can also contact Luke Grobe, the Youth Director of SPLAT, for more information.
