Mission Outreach

habitatWe continue to change lives worldwide.

Since our founding in 1905, mission has been our focus, generosity and outreach our tradition.

Through its General Fund Budget and with Special Offerings and events, Samuel United Church of Christ supports many agencies, ministries, and causes in the St. Louis community and beyond.

Samuel is a 5 for 5 congregation of the United Church of Christ, giving to basic support and all four special offerings of Our Church’s Wider Mission.

We regularly collect and deliver food to our local food pantries, including Joint Neighborhood Ministry and the food pantry at Pilgrim UCC. Other special collections include backpacks and school supplies, toys for BRO, and Christmas gifts for families in need.

Since 1996, we have partnered with other UCC churches and Habitat for Humanity–St. Louis to build affordable housing for people in need. Proceeds from our annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner support this UCC/Habitat partnership.

Our Trivia Night proceeds also go to support local organizations, which in past years have included Lydia’s House and Inspire STL.

In 2013 we began partnering with the First Presbyterian Church on Delmar to help provide emergency shelter for women and families through the Room at the Inn.

From time to time, instead of the traditional worship service, we worship through mission. We leave the comfort of our sanctuary to follow Jesus to where he is already at work in the world. We like to say, “Jesus left the building and we followed.“
